Runners from around the globe and across the Midwest will vie for victory and prize money at the 2025 Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon and Medtronic TC 10 Mile on Sunday, October 5.
Included in the mix is Olympian and Minnesota native Joe Klecker, who will run the Medtronic TC 10 Mile as part of his TCS New York City Marathon preparations.
The Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon is offering $10,000 to the winners of its professional fields, plus a $4,000 prize to champions of a unique race-within-a-race -- the Best of the Midwest Invitational – where runners from twelve Midwestern states will compete. The Medtronic TC 10 Mile race, which kicks off a Sunday of racing, will offer $6,000 to its pro champions.

Last year’s men’s runner-up Tesfu Tewelde of Flagstaff, Ariz., (2:10:21 personal best) will once again challenge for the overall win while defending his Best of the Midwest Invitational title. He represents Wisconsin in the competition, the state to which his family originally immigrated. Kenyans Elisha Barno (2:09:14), the 2018 Twin Cities champ and a six-time Grandma’s Marathon winner and Nicolas Rotich (2:11:24) are his likely challengers, along with Ethiopia’s Asefa Bekele (2:11:57). Also seeking fast finishes are Will Norris of Charlottesville, Va., sixth in 2024 in 2:12:33, and Steven Martinez of San Diego (2:13:44).
The women’s races feature a pack of Americans including Allie Kieffer of West Islip, NY, (2:28:12), Annmarie Tuxbury of Blowing Rock, N.C., ( 2:30:04) and Jane Bareikis of Crestwood, Ill., (2:29:00) who is also a top contender for the women’s title in Best of the Midwest Invitational along with Meagan O’Neil of Rochester Hills, Mich. (2:34:55). The women’s field will be joined by ultramarathon superstar and Minnesota native Courtney Dauwalter, a trail-running wildcard among the field of road racing specialists.
The 2025 wheelchair race – which offers $1000 to its winners -- will feature a battle between men’s defending champion Fidel Aguilar of Mexico, 2022 champion Wyatt Willand of Tucson, Ariz., and two-time champion Hermin Garic of Utica, NY. The women’s wheelchair race will be led by 2024 Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon champion Veronica Gonzalez of Mexico and two-time winner Hannah Babalola of Chicago.
Medtronic TC 10 Mile
Along with the return of Joe Klecker to his home state -- his mother and fellow Olympian Janis Klecker is a two-time Twin Cities Marathon champion -- the Medtronic TC 10 Mile will feature 2024 10 mile runner-up Yemane Haileselassie and 2021 U.S. 10 mile champion Biya Simbassa, both of Flagstaff, Ariz.
The women’s field includes three-time Medtronic TC 10 Mile Champion Sara Hall and two 2024 podium finishers in runner-up Everlyn Kemboi of El Paso and third-place Mercy Chelangat of Flagstaff, Ariz. Joining them is Minnesota Distance Elite’s Annie Frisbie.
