What is a #TCMbassador?

As TCM’s vision is a community that engages each other through movement, a #TCMbassador is someone who:

  • loves motivating others

  • believes in creating welcoming spaces for all

  • is eager to be an advocate and make a difference in their community

  • believes in TCM's vision of a healthier society - physically, mentally, and socially.

TCMbassadors represent all types of movers, from first timers eager to share their journey, to seasoned runners with advice to share, we're creating a community that speaks to all.

TCMbassador terms run from January - December of each year.

What was your first Twin Cities In Motion experience?

My first TCM event was the TCM 10 mile in 2024 after just moving here the month prior from Florida! Seeing the community come out and cheer while I ran the furthest I ever had in my life in a new city solidified I had moved to the right place!

A big pancake breakfast! There is nothing better then replenshing calories post-race than some good 'ol carbs.

What was your first Twin Cities In Motion experience?

I moved to the Twin Cities to go to school at the University of St. Thomas. When I saw the marathon runners on Summit that first October, my Freshman year, I knew I wanted to be one of them before I graduated. Here's to 2026 being the year!

Current favorite running shoe?

Hoka Bondi 9! I started wearing them while training for my first half-marathon, and have them for long-distance running ever since.

After every race, I look forward to refueling with an entire pizza. Not recommended in Chicago though - those pizzas tend to be a lot more to food than you can handle.

What was your first Twin Cities In Motion experience?

I first went out to support a friend running the Twin Cities Marathon in 2018. My favorite experience though, was taking my 2 year old to cheer on runners at the 2021 event. Since then, he's become a marathon super fan!

Favorite Pre or Post-Race Ritual?

For TCM, pre race traditions I have are I always have to get a pull over or a hoodie from the Blue 84 brand because of how cozy and soft their fabric is. Then I will go to the expo and visit as many vendors as I can and bring some of the stuff I get to my cross country team so they can experience the excitement too! Post race traditions nowadays look different for me because of my inappropriate sinus tachycardia: I make sure to get my heart checked at the medical tent before I do anything else; especially if my watch says my heart rate is high, then I will have a protein shake to recover and walk around to loosen up my legs.

What was your first Twin Cities In Motion experience?

My first experience with TCM was the Valentine's Day 5k in 2017! I remember it being REALLY cold (below zero temps!), but really fun.

Current favorite running shoe?

For my trainers, I love the ASICS NovaBlasts, and for racing I really like the Saucony Endorphin Speeds! For me as an autistic person, my shoes really matter for me when it comes to textures and feels: I need shoes that feel light, that don't constrict the tops of my feet, but also offer me the support I need because I struggle with plantar fasciitis. Both of these shoes offer me the comfort and lightweight feel I need to run my best!

What was your first Twin Cities In Motion experience?

My first experience was actually at a panel that I was on for Mile in My Shoes and that was held at the TCM Motion Center. At this event, I was lucky enough to meet Allison Greenlee who is just a gem of a human. We interacted multiple times last fall and I ran the Half Marathon for more on behalf of MiMS as well. Though I cramped for four miles, the route, bands, constant cheering from spectators and event as a whole was one to remember.

My first experience with TCM was signing up my son for one of the kid runs at Women Run the Cities 2025. I had signed up for the Twin Cities 10k and I wanted to check out a TCM event and encourage my son to try a race before his school's fun run.

I love to eat dark chocolate with almonds, or nice fried plantain scrambled eggs w/ feta , chorizo and berries.

What was your first Twin Cities In Motion experience?

My first experience with TCM was the TC 10K. I met so many cool people from all backgrounds at the TCM shakeout run initially and it was great to be with community. \n\nDuring the 10k race I met a nice guy named Alex that helped me through miles 2-4. It gave me a sense of control even when I felt fatigued. I was able to finish with a negative split and set a PR because of the encouragement and rapport. We are still friends on Strava currently. Community is what it's all about.

Current favorite running shoe?

My favorite running shoe is the Asics Gel Nimbus 27. Its comfortable, yet versatile for different types of running, from recovery to long runs, and even some tempo. It's not the fastest buy being 260 pounds means prioritizing comfort and these shoes are amazing.

Favorite Pre or Post-Race Ritual?

Before a race, I like to wake up a few hours early to ease my nerves, have a light breakfast, and stretch before heading to the start line early. After a big race, my favorite tradition is enjoying a good meal, taking a much-needed nap, and relaxing at home with my family.

What was your first Twin Cities In Motion experience?

My first experience with TCM was in 2021 when I ran the PNC Women Run the Cities race. It was such a great experience that I've made it a goal to run one to two TCM races every year since. A few years later, I ran my first marathon with TCM, which was an incredibly meaningful milestone for me.

My favorite pre-race tradition is soaking in all of the feelings at the start line while celebrating the hard work I put into getting ready for race day. And of course, listening to my race playlist! (PSA: Always looking for new running songs, so please share!).

What was your first Twin Cities In Motion experience?

My first experience with TCM was spectating my brother run the 10K during Twin Cities Marathon Weekend when I was younger. I remember the energy of spectating and felt inspired to run a race on Marathon Weekend one day. And I have! Over the years, I've officially done the 5K, 10K, 10 Mile, Looney Challenge, and Marathon during Marathon Weekend! Nothing beats the energy or scenery of these races.

Favorite Pre or Post-Race Ritual?

My favorite pre-race tradition is grabbing a brisket-style Reuben sandwich from Mac's Industrial Sports Bar in the Mill City area the night before race day. Extra salt, all the fries, and zero regrets.

What was your first Twin Cities In Motion experience?

My first Twin Cities in Motion experience was running the Get in Gear 10K. The energy at the start line, the encouragement from volunteers and spectators, and the overall sense of community made it unforgettable. The event was so smoothly run, and crossing the finish line felt eager to sign up for more races. The race showed me firsthand how TCM creates events that are supportive, inclusive, and all about bringing people together through movement. From that day, I knew I wanted to be part of that magic.

Favorite Pre or Post-Race Ritual?

Breakfast for Dinner at Keys Cafe; preferably with my son and my partner.

What was your first Twin Cities In Motion experience?

When I was growing up, two of my very good friends ran TCM every year, so when I decided to run to lose weight when I was 300 pounds and then ran my first road race in 2013, it was my goal to run TCM before I turned 40. TCM had sold out in 2012, so my goal then became to run it the year I turned 40. And with the exception of 2017, when I was injured, I've run every TCM (and Ultra Loony) since. This will always be my favorite race because of what it's meant to me and my family. My son and partner were at the finish line at that first marathon in 2013 and I have the photos hanging in my office. I have so many friends now who I consider family because of TCM.

Current favorite running shoe?

Brooks Ghost. Still have 4 of the 14s, 6 of the 15s, 35 of the 16s, 2 of the Gortex and one of the 17s; with the trail version on its way. This is my go-to shoe. Considering I run 20 plus miles a day, me saying this is a good shoe probably carries a little weight.
