Safety and Self Defense for Women* Runners

Date: Saturday, July 13
Time: 9:00 A.M. - 10:30 A.M.
Location: Twin Cities Motion Center

Basic safety plans and learning self-defense skills can add a level of safety and confidence to your running and walking adventures. Join Twin Cities In Motion and The Art Martial Arts for a discussion and hands on self-defense learning.

About our instructor:
Ms. Mariela Ajpop (Mari) is a second-degree black belt practitioner. Receiving her 1st degree in 2014, her key MMA strength is Kickboxing. Currently, Ms. Mari is a student at the U of M, pursuing a degree in Political Science going on to immigration law. She spends most weekends volunteering with several community and government organizations. In addition to her powerful kickboxing talents, she is also versed in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu making her an all-around fighter.

About The Art Martial Arts:
More than your average martial arts dojo, The Art MMA strives to create community bonds. Melding Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Karate, and kickboxing, this is a place where you get to know your neighbor. Physical or mental diagnoses shouldn't limit us. Here's where we all come together to make things possible.

*This program is free and open to genders including women, women-identifying individuals, and non-binary and gender non-conforming people who are comfortable in a space that centers the experiences of women runners and walkers.
