Public Transit: All registered participants and volunteers will have access to Metropolitan Council transportation (bus and light rail) at no charge on Saturday, April 25. To redeem, participants and volunteers can download the pass online, or print the pass, and present it to driver. Access the pass here.

There is designated participant and spectator parking at the park & ride lots for the Fort Snelling Light Rail Station. The designated lots are Fort Snelling North and Fort Snelling South. Spectators can either pay onsite or use the Metro Transit app to purchase tickets ahead of time after creating an account. There are two types of passes All-Day and 2.5-hour passes.

    • Ride the light rail from Fort Snelling Station to the Minnehaha/50th St Station.

    • Safely cross Hiawatha at the traffic light.

    • Follow the path and signage to race area.

    • Total trip time ranges from 15-20 minutes depending on where you park and you don’t just miss the train. If you do add another 15 minutes.

Parking: There is no designated participant parking, but we suggest parking in the Fort Snelling Parking Lots and ride light rail to 50th Street & Minnehaha Park Station. Neighborhood parking is also available in the area. Please pay close attention to no parking signs, designated parking hours and meter details. Obey all parking rules in effect and do not park along the race course.

  • Participants may place their gear and other items in the clear, plastic race bag provided at gear check. Race-day gear check will be marked with a flag and located near Packet Pick Up and the Finish Line.

Please take note of the following details related to this free, race-day service:

    • Personal bags will not be accepted

    • Clear, plastic bags will be available on race day and at Packet Pick Up

    • Do NOT leave bags unattended on race day at any time

    • Affix the gear check tag from race bib to the plastic bag using the tie provided at the gear check drop zone

    • Tie bags securely shut before dropping at the gear check drop zone

    • Do not check valuables, Twin Cities In Motion is not responsible for lost or stolen items

    • We discourage runners and spectators from carrying non-transparent bags at the event at any time

  • Course Support: The Get in Gear 10K will have fluid stations with water, Nuun Endurance, and toilets along course

Hiccup: 2026 Get in Gear fluid stations will be using reusable silicon cups provided by Hiccup. After runners use a cup on course, they’ll be asked to drop it in one of the bins at the end of the fluid station or toss it to the side of the road as they would with a disposable cup.

The Runtourage: Twin Cities In Motion celebrates all runners and walkers - whatever your pace. The Runtourage exists to provide a supportive and enthusiastic presence for our back of the pack participants. Look for our Runtourage volunteers toward the end of our races! Learn more here.

  • Age groups include 8 & under, 9-13, 14-18, 19-24, and continue in five-year increments until the 80+ age group. Athletes registered under “prefer not to disclose” for gender are not eligible for age group awards.

Complimentary entries to next years event will be awarded to the top 3 overall men, women, and non-binary athletes in the Get in Gear 10K and Get in Gear Medtronic Half Marathon. Codes to register for the event will be sent out in December 2026. The alternative standard for a comped entry into the Get in Gear 10K and Get in Gear Medtronic Half Marathon is to have run an 85%+ age-graded performance in the last two years (there are only a limited number of these available). If you have met these standards, please email Alana Dillinger who coordinates all awards at [email protected].

  • Whether it's at packet pick up, on race day, or after the last runner has crossed the finish line, volunteers keep us in motion. Learn more and register here to volunteer at the 2026 Get in Gear.
