Position Summary
The Senior Content Manager leads the development and execution of TCM’s omnichannel content strategy ensuring the organization shows up consistently across channels, so people feel connected, understood, and inspired to act, whether that’s donating, volunteering, or beginning their journey to get in motion.
This role drives engagement, registration growth, and mission impact by managing the full content lifecycle—from strategy and planning through production, distribution, and performance optimization.
The ideal candidate is a strategic, hands-on content leader who balances storytelling and analytics—someone eager to build, innovate, and scale new content models that expand audience reach and deepen year-round engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
Content Strategy & Planning

In coordination with Senior Director, develop and execute a comprehensive omnichannel content strategy aligned with TCM’s brand, mission, and growth objectives.

Manage, execute and adapt the annual content calendar to ensure alignment across campaigns, programs, and event cycles.

Collaborate with marketing, development, and operations teams to deliver integrated storytelling and consistent messaging.

Define and track KPIs measuring content effectiveness, audience growth, and registration conversion.

Develop and implement a media strategy to grow earned media coverage and increase brand visibility.

Lead the execution of the media strategy in partnership with a third-party PR agency.
Content Creation & Management

Generate and distribute high-quality, SEO/GEO-optimized content across web, email, social media, and video channels.

Serve as the organization’s principal copywriter and editor, ensuring clear, consistent, and inspiring brand voice.

Manage freelance writers and content production partners to deliver impactful content efficiently.

Uphold brand governance, accessibility standards, and content quality.

Build and manage relationships with local reporters, media outlets, and influencers.
-
Field media inquiries and requests in partnership with senior leadership.

Implement and manage crisis communications plans with leadership and external partners.
Audience Development & Growth

Design and implement strategies to grow digital audiences, subscriber bases, and event participation.

Use CRM and analytics tools (e.g., HubSpot, Google Analytics, Meltwater) to segment audiences and personalize engagement.

Experiment with new content formats and platforms to reach and convert diverse audiences.

Support fundraising, sponsorship, and community initiatives with mission-driven storytelling.
Event Support & Live Production

Collaborate with events team to create content amplifying TCM’s signature events.

Hire and manage all vendors to support live show productions, including More Than A Marathon Live broadcast.

Support live event coverage through storytelling, social content, and on-site media management.
-
Work flexible, event-based hours (including evenings and weekends) as needed.

Ability to travel in and around the Minneapolis–St. Paul area for events and media opportunities.
Performance Analysis & Optimization

Monitor, analyze, and report on content performance metrics.

Use insights to refine strategies and recommend improvements.

Stay current on trends in digital storytelling, AI, and nonprofit content strategy.
Team & Vendor Leadership

Manage content-related budgets, vendors, and contractors.
-
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistency and innovation across channels.

Foster creativity and continuous improvement within marketing and communications team.
Qualifications:
Required
-
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or related field
-
5+ years of experience in content marketing, editorial management, or digital communications
-
Proficiency in Hubspot or similar email CRM marketing platform
-
Proven success developing and executing omnichannel content strategies
-
Strong writing, editing, and messaging skills
-
Proficiency with analytics, SEO/GEO, CMS platforms, and social media management tools

Excellent organizational and project management skills
Preferred
-
Experience in nonprofit, event, or lifestyle/fitness industries
-
Familiarity with marketing automation, and UX principles
-
Experience with multimedia storytelling (video, podcast, or design oversight)

Background in PR or media relations
Reports to: Sr. Director of Marketing & Brand Strategy
Status: Full-Time, exempt, hybrid work environment with mandatory in-office days/weeks
Salary: $68,000 to $76,000 per year
