Roads will be closed and course services will be provided for all participants able to finish the marathon in six hours from the time the start line closes. Finishing the marathon by 2:20 PM generally means maintaining an average pace of 13:44 per mile. The city permits issued to TCM do not permit the roads to remain closed beyond this limit. No course services including medical, fluid stations or traffic control are available beyond this pace, and participants who fall behind this pace will be asked to board the sweep bus which follows the course at the cut-off pace. Should you choose not to board the sweep bus, by order of both Minneapolis and Saint Paul police, you must move to the sidewalk and obey all pedestrian traffic laws as the course reopens to traffic on a rolling basis. Runners who choose to continue and are not on the sidewalk will have their race number recorded and are subject to a ban from future TCM events.
While we strive our hardest to provide the full experience to all participants, those who choose to continue on the sidewalk and arrive to the finish after 2:20 PM may not receive full finishers’ amenities including medal, photos, and a listing in the official results.
Transportation and parking details are still being finalized for the 2024 Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon Weekend events.
Like previous years, we expect to have free participant buses for Marathon and 10 Mile participants, including rides to the start line from St. Paul and rides from the finish line back to Minneapolis and to the InterContinental in downtown St. Paul.
All registered participants will have access to ride the Blue Line Light Rail and Green Line Light Rail at no charge on race day. To redeem, riders will show their race bibs for admission onto the light rail.
