

The Half Marathon course starts near the Cathedral in St. Paul, runs down Summit Avenue into quiet St. Paul neighborhoods, threads a loop of the Mississippi before arriving at Get in Gear’s traditional Minnehaha Falls finish line.

Participants may place their gear and other items in the clear, plastic race bag provided at gear check. Race-day gear check will be marked with a flag and located near Packet Pick Up and the Finish Line.
Please take note of the following details related to this free, race-day service:

Personal bags will not be accepted

Clear, plastic bags will be available on race day and at Packet Pick Up

Affix the gear check tag from race bib to the plastic bag using the tie provided at the gear check drop zone

We discourage runners and spectators from carrying non-transparent bags at the event at any time

We strongly encourage carpooling, biking, or using public transportation as parking is limited in the area. Be sure to allow plenty of time (45 minutes to an hour) between arrival and start time to walk to the packet pickup area, use toilets, check your gear, and prepare for the event.
Getting to and from the Start Line: Half Marathon participants will park near the Start Area (240 Summit Ave, in front of the James J Hill House) and be bused back to the parking areas after finishing the half marathon.

Designated Start Area Parking locations will open at 7:30 A.M., and participants are recommended to arrive to the Start Area at least 60-75 minutes in advance of the start if they are picking up their packet on race day and at least 45-60 minutes in advance of the start if they have picked up their packets in advance.

Free buses back to the Start Area will run from the Finish Area at Minnehaha Regional Park beginning at 10:45 A.M., dropping off participants at the, with the final bus departing at 12:30 P.M.

The Start Line is located on 240 Summit Ave north of the intersection with Selby Ave, near the James J Hill House.
Medtronic Half Marathon start area amenities, including parking, packet pick up, gear check and portable toilets, will open to participants at 7:30 A.M.
Gear Check bags will be transported to the Gear Check Area in Minnehaha Regional Park and available for pick-up there beginning at 10:15 A.M. until Gear Check. Pick-up closes at 12:15 P.M.
Course Support: The Get in Gear Half Marathon will have fluid stations with water, Nuun Endurance, and toilets along course.
Hiccup: 2026 Get in Gear fluid stations will be using reusable silicon cups provided by Hiccup. After runners use a cup on course, they’ll be asked to drop it in one of the bins at the end of the fluid station or toss it to the side of the road as they would with a disposable cup.

Prize money for the Medtronic Half Marathon will be awarded to the top three men, women, and non-binary athletes.

Age groups include 8 & under, 9-13, 14-18, 19-24, and continue in five-year increments until the 80+ age group. Athletes registered under “prefer not to disclose” for gender are not eligible for age group awards.
Complimentary entries to next years event will be awarded to the top 3 overall men, women, and non-binary athletes in the Get in Gear 10K and Get in Gear Medtronic Half Marathon. Codes to register for the event will be sent out in December 2026. The alternative standard for a comped entry into the Get in Gear 10K and Get in Gear Medtronic Half Marathon is to have run an 85%+ age-graded performance in the last two years (there are only a limited number of these available).
