Responsible for the management of the event, registration all the way to post-race clean up. The division focuses on the safety and security of every participant and volunteer during the race. The division has the responsibility for all aspects of planning, organization and management of the races, literally from the start to the finish.

 

Women Run the Cities Division

Finish Line Food Captain

1 position available

Role summary: Help with planning, logistics and management of the Women Run the Cities (WRC) finish line food and medals leading up to the event and on race day. There will be 1 Finish Line Food Captain on the committee that will work closely with 2 Start/Finish Line Captains. All Captains work closely with the Race Operations Manager on TCM staff and is appointed and reports to the Division Director(s).

Key Job Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee the set-up and take down of the physical finish line food area including
  • Inventory left over food items after the last finisher and help load up left overs in TCM vehicle to deliver to local food shelf
  • Security and crowd control
    • Organize participants so they get to the start line in an efficient manner to ensure an on-time race start
    • Ensure a smooth flow of runners through the finish line
  • Lead volunteer training and supervision on event day
  • Discuss and cultivate best practices with the committee
  • Ensure a positive event experience (for all participants and volunteers)
  • Partner and integrate your role within counterparts on the WRC Division

  • A positive attitude!
  • Ability to work early in the morning on race day

Head Course Marshal

1 position available

Role summary: Help with planning, logistics and management of the Women Run the Cities (WRC) one of four sections on course leading up to the event and on race day. There will be 1 Head Course Marshal per 1-3 miles of the course on the committee that will work closely with other Head Course Marshals. All HCM work closely with the Race Operations Manager & Course Lead on TCM staff and is appointed and reports to the Division Director(s).  

Key Job Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for managing race day set up and the breakdown of mile markers, clocks, and cones in your section
  • Be familiar with assigned section of the course
  • Understand road closing and opening procedures
  • Know where the closest fluid station is located to your section
  • Lead volunteer training and supervision on event day
    • Determine with Course Lead what intersections in your area course marshals will be working
  • Discuss and cultivate best practices with the committee
  • Ensure a positive event experience (for all participants and volunteers)
  • Partner and integrate your role within counterparts on the WRC Division

Race Festival Captain

1 position available

Role summary: Help with planning, logistics and management of the Women Run the Cities (WRC) race festival leading up to the event and on race day. There will be 3 Race Festival Captains on the committee and will decide on the division of labor at the first committee meeting. All 3 Race Festival Captains work closely with the Sr. Event & Partnerships Manager and Race Operations Manager on TCM staff and is appointed and reports to the Division Director(s). 

Key Job Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee the set-up and take down of the physical race festival area
  • Security and crowd control
  • Lead volunteer training and supervision on event day for the following areas
    • ID Check
    • Mimosas stands
    • Brunch Bar
    • Photo stops (if applicable)
  • Coordinate with vendors and sponsors for set-up and take down of tents, tables, chairs, weights, power, and sound
  • Discuss and cultivate best practices with the committee
  • Ensure a positive event experience (for all participants and volunteers)
  • Partner and integrate your role within counterparts on the WRC Division

Start/Finish Line Captain

2 positions available

Role summary: Help with planning, logistics and management of the Women Run the Cities (WRC) start and finish lines leading up to the event and on race day. There will be 2 Start/Finish Line Captains on the committee and will decide on the division of labor at the first committee meeting.  Both Captains work closely with the Race Operations Manager on TCM staff and is appointed and reports to the Division Director(s). 

Key Job Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee the set-up and take down of the physical start/finish line area
    • Start Line: barricade, pace signs, American flag, and clocks
    • Finish Line: barricade, sponsor signs, clocks, and finisher tape
  • Security and crowd control
    • Organize participants so they get to the start line in an efficient manner to ensure an on-time race start
    • Ensure a smooth flow of runners through the finish line
  • Lead volunteer training and supervision on event day
  • Discuss and cultivate best practices with the committee
  • Ensure a positive event experience (for all participants and volunteers)

Fluid Stations Captain

1 position available

Role summary: Help with planning, logistics and management of the Women Run the Cities (WRC) one of four fluid stations on course leading up to the event and on race day. There will be 1 Fluid Station Captain per station on the committee that will work closely with other Fluid Station Captains.  All Captains work closely with the Race Operations Manager on TCM staff and is appointed and reports to the Division Director(s). 

Key Job Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for managing race day set up, inventory, and the breakdown of fluid station
  • Ensure your fluid station is following food safety guidelines
  • Hook up food grade hoses to fire hydrants on race
  • Troubleshoot issues on race day
  • Lead volunteer training and supervision on event day
  • Discuss and cultivate best practices with the committee
  • Ensure a positive event experience (for all participants and volunteers)
  • Partner and integrate your role within counterparts on the WRC Division
