NOTE: Rewards In Motion members, please go to the RIM question below to learn more about your RIM points and getting the greatest value on your 2022 marathon registration.

Is First to the 40th registration open for other 2022 marathon weekend races?

No, only the marathon will be open for early registration. 2022 Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon Weekend events will open spring of 2022, expect for the Medtronic TC 10 Mile registration drawing which takes place in the summer.

I have a code from a cancelled event, can I use it for First to the 40th registration?

Yes, you can use one eligible discount code from a cancelled event during registration. Updated codes were emailed the week of September 13. If you have questions regarding your discount code, please email pattir@tcmevents.org.

I usually run with a corporate team, should I still sign up with First to the 40th?

Yes, register during First to the 40th and you’ll guarantee your marathon spot – and at the best price! If you choose to register early during the First to the 40th promotion, you will need to enter your company name to be placed on your employer’s Corporate Team Challenge team.

I usually run with a charity team, should I still sign up with First to the 40th?

Yes, register during First to the 40th and you’ll guarantee your marathon spot – and at the best price! If you choose to register early during the First to the 40th promotion, please have your charity team contact us and we will add you onto the team.

Can I use my RIM points for First to the 40th?

No, but First to the 40th Registration will be the best value for most Rewards members. Rewards In Motion members will be able to use their points during spring registration, but only Rewards members with 5,000 points or more could earn a better price by waiting.  We expect spring registration to open at $130, so it would take 5,000 points (redeemed for a $25 discount) to qualify for a better price than the First to the 40th opening price of $110.

You are able to use your RIM points toward all 2022 events, which include:

  • Hot Dash – Saturday, March 19
  • Women Run the Cities – Saturday, May 21
  • Red, White and Boom! – TBA
  • Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon Weekend – Oct 1-2
(exceptions include First to the 40th marathon registration promotion and Medtronic TC 10 Mile drawing)
What will happen to my registration if the event is cancelled due to COVID-19?

Registration for the 2022 Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon is non-refundable, except if state or local authorities mandate race cancellation due to the Covid-19 pandemic, in which case TCM will provide a partial refund in the amount of $40, convert all in-person registrants to the virtual event, and mail out all race amenities.

Can I make changes to my registration?

Can I receive a refund or defer my entry to another date?

Refunds are available within 48 hours of registration. This policy is valid until 5 days before the event. To request a refund, email info@tcmevents.org  within 48 hours of when you submitted your registration. If accepted, you will be refunded your race entry fee; online transaction fees are non-refundable.

I can no longer make the event. Can I transfer to a friend?

Yes, you may transfer your race entry to a friend. There will be a deadline where transfers are no longer allowed in the summer of 2022. After that date, your registration is non transferable. There is a $15 transfer fee.

I’m signed up for the marathon, but I’d rather do the 5K or 10K.

If you want to transfer from the marathon to the 5K, or 10K (held on Saturday, October 1), you will be responsible for the $15 transfer fee AND no refund will be made to account for the difference. There will be a deadline where transfers are no longer allowed in the summer of 2022. After that date your registration is non-transferable.

*Participants may not transfer into the Medtronic TC 10 Mile as registration is done by a drawing process and would be unfair to those we turn away from the drawing.

*There is no transferring into races that are sold out, and TCM does not maintain a waiting list.

There are no deferrals for race entries.

Is there a time limit for finishing the race?

All participants must be able to finish the marathon in six hours (13:44 pace). The city permits issued to TCM do not permit the roads to remain closed beyond this limit.
