Packet Pick Up

We are currently identifying the best practices for executing a safe packet pick up experience for runners, volunteers and TCM staff. We will share more packet pick up information as the September 20 event date approaches. Please look for packet pick up updates via email and on this page. 

Parking Information

Be sure to allow plenty of time (45 minutes to an hour) between arrival and start time to walk to the packet pick up area, use toilets, check your gear, and prepare for the event.

  • The festival area is an approximate 6-minute-walk (.3 miles) from the 50th St - Minnehaha Station via the Metro Transit Blue Line.
  • We strongly encourage carpooling, biking or public transportation.
  • There are a number of area pay lots available; pay close attention to no parking signs, designated parking hours and meter details.
Spectators

Friends and family are welcome to come to the race, bring a motivational sign, and watch and cheer on participants! As always, please be respectful of private property and do not enter the race course. Pedestrians are permitted to cross the course at intersections where race officials are present to direct foot traffic.

Official Charity Team

Girls on the Run Twin Cities is a physical activity-based positive youth development program for 3rd-8th grade girls. Participants develop and improve competence, feel confidence in who they are, develop strength of character, respond to others and oneself with care, create positive connections with peers and adults and make a meaningful contribution to community and society. Each session is led by trained volunteer coaches that guide and mentor the girls. The ten-week program concludes with all participants completing a celebratory 5K event which gives them a tangible sense of achievement as well as a framework for setting and achieving life goals. What started as a small start-up serving 24 girls in the spring of 2012 has spread quickly across the Twin Cities and into southeastern Minnesota to serve 3,400 girls at more than 200 sites in the spring of 2020. 

Training

Let Moms on the Run help you get to the finish line of the Women Run the Cities races! Moms on the Run is a structured fitness program for women of all ages (not just moms) and fitness levels who want to get in shape--and have a fun time doing so. Topics include interval training to increase cardiovascular fitness levels and maximize metabolism benefits. Walk, jog or run your way to a first race or personal record.

What is the new date of the Women Run the Cities event?

Twin Cities Orthopedics’ Women Run the Cities, presented by PNC Bank, is postponed with a tentative reschedule date of Sunday, September 20. 

Twin Cities In Motion’s medical directors will continue to monitor Minnesota’s COVID-19 situation and will use the guidance of the CDC and local health departments to make sure the event can proceed safely on its new date. The safety of runners, volunteers, spectators, staff, and the community at large is our top priority.  

Will it be safe to run by this date?

TCM will use the guidance of the CDC and local health departments to make sure the event can proceed safely on its new date. We will also follow new industry best safety practices when hosting events. Your safety is our number one concern.  

What if it becomes not safe to run by this date?

TCM will continue to work with and monitor current recommendations for gatherings for events. In the unfortunate instance where we would have to cancel entirely, TCM will proceed with a virtual event. 

Will I need to re-register for the new date?

No, if you were registered prior to the registration suspension, you will not need to re-register for the event. Click here to check the status of your registration and confirm your entry.  

How can I see if I'm registered?

Use the online registration confirmation tool to verify entry to the 2020 Women Run the Cities.

What if I cannot participate in the race on September 20?

If you are unable to make the new date you have the following options:  

  • Transfer your Women Run the Cities entry to another person without fees at that time. *
  • Switch distances from your original registration choice without fees at that time. *
  • Participate in the virtual Women Run the Cities option.
  • Choose to donate your entry to TCM as a tax-deductible nonprofit contribution once registration reopens.

Unfortunately, due to costs already incurred for the event, and for the future sustainability of the organization (a small 501c3 non-profit), TCM does not offer deferments to future years or refunds after 48-hours from the time of registration.  

*Due to the COVID-19 emergency, and the postponement of this event, TCM will waive the usual transfer and switching distances fee on this event for 2020. Deadline for all transfers and switching distances is September 4 at 11:59 p.m.

Can I switch from the 10K to another distance or transfer my entry to someone else?

Race registrations may be switched between the 5K, 10K and 10 mile distances one time to another person through the automated TCM transfer process. Registrations may only be transferred one time within the designated transfer period for each event and within the same event and distance as the original registration. 

The Women Run the Cities transfer deadline is September 4, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. TCM will waive the usual transfer fee on this event for 2020 due to the postponement of the event, combined with the pandemic situation. Additional restrictions may apply. Once race numbers are assigned, they are never transferable.

Is there a virtual event?

Yes, TCM will be holding a virtual event to make sure all participants feel safe during this time. It will be available to participants who would prefer to not take part in the in-person event.  

In the unfortunate circumstance that we are unable to gather for an in-person event on September 20 due to the pandemic, we plan to provide a full virtual race experience and a partial credit for future TCM events. 

The process for gear distribution will be provided at a later date. 

Can I receive a refund or defer my entry to next year?

Unfortunately, due to costs already incurred for the event, and for the future sustainability of the organization (a small 501c3 non-profit), TCM does not offer deferments to future years or refunds after 48-hours from the time of registration. 

If you have registered in the last 48-hours you may request a refund by emailing info@tcmevents.org. Please note, this policy is valid until 5 days before the event.

If accepted, you will be refunded your race entry fee; online transaction fees are non-refundable.

Will there be a finish line festival?

We are currently working through the details of what the 2020 finish line festival might look like in light of the COVID-19 situation. Your safety is our number one priority. 

When will I receive my participant gear?

You will receive your gear at packet pickup in September during event week. If it is determined we are unable to hold the event, all registered participants will receive their gear. The process for distribution will be determined at a later date. 

Can I pick up my friend's packet?

Yes. Please have ready their race number and the correct spelling of the person's name. Registrants will be notified of race numbers in the pre-race email following the end of online registration. Picking up others' packets is limited to FOUR at a time if others are waiting; thanks for understanding.

Do I have to run the entire time?

No, you may walk or run at any time during the race. Women Run the Cities 10K participants must, however, be able to maintain a 20-minute-per-mile pace throughout the race due to course limits.

Can I participate with a stroller?

Strollers are not permitted in Women Run the Cities 10K. Strollers are permitted in Women Run the Cities 5K. See 5K page for details.

Can I run with my dog/pets?

We love four-legged friends, however, they are not permitted on course. Thanks for understanding.

Can I volunteer for the event?

Yes! We're looking for people available to volunteer at the event on race day. Help us set up the event, serve participants on course, manage logistics, and more. Click here to learn more!

What is Rewards In Motion?
