Experience the joy of physical fitness and the satisfaction of achieving a goal at one of TCM’s races! This race is specifically for kids and is designed to help kids challenge themselves, have fun, and feel successful.
Race Schedule and Location
Celebrate the arrival Spring in Minnesota at the 10th Annual TC Kids Cross Country Fun Run in Saint Paul! This event gives younger athletes a chance to run with their peers and enjoy a fun, non-competitive environment.
Kids will be grouped by grade and invited to run laps around the half-mile grass course with gentle rolling hills at Como Park. At the start, kids will be instructed to line up by age (Signs marked "Kindergarten" through "7th Grade and up") and run one to six laps, depending on which wave they select on race day. When one group is done, another age group starts. Parents are welcome and encouraged to register and run with their children at any age.
Opening ceremonies -- 9:00 a.m.
"Pre-Schooler and Parent Wave" -- 9:05 a.m.* (For kids 4 years or younger. Parents register along with their preschooler to run alongside them on the course.)
Half Mile -- 9:20 a.m.*
One Mile -- 9:35 a.m.*
Two Miles -- 9:50 a.m.*
5K -- 10:05 a.m.*
*Wave times are approximate and depend on race day attendance.

Packet Pick Up
Parents and kids can check in and pick up their race numbers at the Registration tent starting at 8:00 a.m. In person registration will also be available at the check in table.
Race Day Parking
There is on street parking around the park and there will be additional parking at Como Elementary School, 780 Wheelock Parkway (enter from Maryland and Grotto) with shuttle bus running every 15 minutes beginning at 8:15 am. Buses will run until 12:30 p.m.
A picnic lunch will be provided for all participants and registered spectators until approximately 10:30 a.m.! Wrist bands are distributed with race packets from 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. at the Registration/Packet Pick Up table. Use your wristband to redeem your lunch at the Pavilion after your wave. Lunch includes a sandwich, fruit, chips/pretzels and water.
Harry & Shelly
Cheer for TCM mascots Harry and Shelly as they kick off the morning with their own race! Last year Harry was distracted with high-fiving spectators and lost by a... hare. Harry and Shelly will be cheering on runners, handing out medals and posing for pictures!
Bring Books to Donate!
As you get ready to run this event making a healthy body, help these kids grow a healthy mind! Run and Read Book Drive, Encouraging Healthy Minds and Bodies will be on site collecting new or gently used children's and young adult books at the TC Kids Cross Country Fun Run! Books will be donated to kids in the local community.
TCM is proud to offer the Medtronic TC Kids Marathon, a FREE unique online training program that is designed to get families and classrooms exercising. 12-, 8-, and 4-week training programs offered. Register for one and become eligible for great incentives!

Frequently Asked Questions
1. My child’s heat is coming up soon – what should I do?
You should make your way to the start area 10 minutes prior to your child’s race. You will find a banner where the start of all of the heats will take place – behind the start area there is an area with each of the age groups marked appropriately.
2. What if my child misses their wave?
Should your child miss their heat you can make your way to the start area and place them with another age-group. Please consider your child’s age and fitness capability should you move them into another heat. Safety is our number one priority.
3. Is there an awards ceremony?
No. Every child is a winner today at this event. Finisher medals are handed out at the finish line.
4. Does my child need to keep track of their laps?
Yes, your child needs to keep track of their laps by counting as they go. If they bring a cheering section, their spectator(s) can keep track of the laps.
5. Where are the restrooms?
You will find restrooms/porta-potties in the parking lot adjacent to the course and in the building behind the picnic/lunch pavilion.
6. Where should I find my child after the race?
In the area, just past the finish line (look for the balloon arch). School group runners should meet back at their school meeting area.
7. Can parents run with their child?
Yes. The Pre-K wave is designed especially for parents and small children, but parents are welcome to run with their children at any distance in this even as long as they are registered and wear a bib to run.
8. What about the shuttle bus?
The shuttle runs between Como Elementary School and our event until 12:30 p.m.
9. My child is ill/hurt, is there someone who can help them?
Trained medical help is available at the pavilion adjacent to the lunch area. They are identified by the large purple balloon.
10. What other activities are available at the event?
This year we will have a number of partners attending. Twin Cities Road Crew will be up near the pavilion along with Creative KidStuff. Adventures in Cardboard will be roaming the area. At the south end of the field will be an entire Norwegian Festival celebrating Syttende Mai or Norwegian Constitution Day. There will be food, games and crafts designed to delight children of all ages.
