Top Spectator Spots

Runners love being encouraged during a race! There are several prime spots to catch a glimpse of the participant you're following on this half marathon course. As always, please be respectful of private property and keep in mind that runner safety is most important. Grab a coffee, make a sign, and bring along your friends to support the athlete in your life!

Family Fun Area, presented by Running Room

While you're waiting on your runners, join in the holiday fun! We're hosting the first BBQ of your holiday complete with lawn games, a slip N slide, live DJ with music, and more! The picnic takes place at Father Hennepin Bluffs Park, right near where runners finish the Red, White, & Boom!

Course Entertainment

Join in on the holiday fun on the morning of the 4th! Rock bands, dance teams, choirs, cheer squads, marching bands, community musicians, DJs, and whatever else you can think of are all welcome! To reserve a spot on the course to entertain, contact Event Experience Manager, KellyD@tcmevents.org.

Things to keep in mind

Do:

- Help keep the course cleaner than when the race started by cleaning up your trash.

- Stay for the last runners, they appreciate the support as much as the winners!

Don't:

- Provide food or beverages of any kind to the runners.

- Turn on sprinklers for the runners. Not all runners like to get their shoes wet and cooling off in this method can actually cause someone to have an increased risk of heat stroke.

- Set up anything on the course.

Parking Information
  • There are surface lots, parking ramps, metered-parking and non-metered parking available near the Start/Finish area. Parking fills quickly on race morning so it’s best to arrive early to find a spot. Plan on walking a few blocks up to 3/4 mile.

  • City of Minneapolis metered spaces are not enforced on Independence Day. Please be aware not all metered spaces in Minneapolis are operated by the city; always read the information posted on the meter to be certain.

  • St. Anthony Falls Parking Ramp is located at University Ave SE & SE 2nd Avenue. There is also a surface lot just east of the ramp. Due to road closure schedules, it is advisable to be in the ramp/lot by 6:00 a.m.

  • Do not leave valuables in your car.

  • If you park in the neighborhoods, please be courteous. Don’t block any driveways and respect private property.
