Upper Midwest Endurance Challenge
What started as a 150-person race in 1977, when a local running club called the North Shore Striders partnered with Grandma’s Restaurant to host a marathon, has grown to become the area’s largest annual event. One of the country’s 15 largest marathons, Grandma’s Marathon’s course is ideal for first-timers and veteran marathoners alike. With a net elevation drop of about 130 feet, the point-to-point trek is relatively flat and features gorgeous views of Lake Superior. Marathon weekend in Duluth is an annual tradition that highlights the very best of what the area has
to offer, including breathtaking scenery, unmatched hospitality and
passionate community spirit.
