Course Entertainment

Diane and Alan Page Community Cheer Challenge

On the day when it seems like half Minnesota is running the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon, we invite the other half to cheer them on!

That’s why Twin Cities In Motion and Vikings Hall of Famer and former Minnesota Supreme Court Justice Alan Page launched the Diane & Alan Page Community Cheer Challenge in 2022. The Cheer Challenge invites Minnesotans to assemble along the marathon course to support runners and gather as a community, just like Justice Page and his late wife Diane did for decades.

Live Art Marathon

In celebration of the Most Beautiful Urban Marathon in America® we have invited artists to the event to capture the beauty and spirit of the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon Weekend. Find artists creating on Saturday at the 5K and 10K finish line at the Capitol in St. Paul. On Sunday find them in the start area in downtown Minneapolis, on course, and at the Finish line at the Capitol in St. Paul. Check back here later for the course map with live art locations.

Is there a time limit for finishing the event?

10K finishers are expected to complete the course at a pace of 25-minutes-per-mile or faster. For most people, this allows for the 10K to be completed at a walking pace. Race services including medical, aid stations, or traffic control may not be available beyond this pace, and you may be asked to move to the sidewalk. The finish line, however, remains open until 11 a.m. due to subsequent events. After 11 a.m., the course and finish line are closed and amenities will no longer be available. The City of St. Paul permits issued to TCM do not allow the roads to remain closed to traffic beyond this time.

Are strollers/dogs permitted?

Strollers are not permitted in the Marathon, 10 Mile and 10K.

Strollers are permitted in the 5K, Mile and Half Mile. Please indicate that you intend to run with a stroller on your registration form. You will sign a special waiver and be given a special "Stroller Bib" at Packet Pickup.

While we love our four-legged friends, we ask that they cheer you on from the sidelines and reunite with them after you exit the Finish Controlled Zone. Thank you for your understanding.

What precautions is TCM taking to ensure my safety?

Since the start of the pandemic, Twin Cities In Motion (TCM) has worked closely with permitting municipalities and agencies, the State of Minnesota, and medical and crowd science experts to determine how to best provide the Twin Cities with a safe large-scale in-person race. Additionally, in advance of all events, TCM maintains close communication with public safety officials.

Safety has always been our organization’s top priority, and we continuously monitor COVID-19 and all other public health and safety risks.

Any event changes or updated protocols will be communicated in the Pre-Race Email sent race week.

If you are interested in learning more, including our cancellation policies for both COVID-19 and reasons other than COVID-19, click here.

What will happen to my registration if the event is cancelled due to COVID-19?

Registration for the 2023 Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon Weekend registration is non-refundable 48 hours after registration and is completely non-refundable for registrations made 5 calendar days or less before the event, except if state or local authorities mandate race cancelation due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. In that case, partial cash refunds will be provided per this document.

How do I volunteer for the event?

It takes nearly 5,000 volunteers to keep our organization and events running.

Whether you’re looking for a one-day experience or a year-round leadership opportunity, we offer a variety of meaningful roles suited to help you reach your personal and professional goals. From course marshals to fluid stations and finish line volunteers, we have something for everyone.

Check back this summer for available volunteer roles, or check our our volunteer page for year-round opportunities.

How can I further support TCM’s nonprofit mission?

TCM’s ability to impact our community is due in part to the generosity of our runners and supporters. As a member supported 501(c)3 non-profit, we exist to provide platforms for people to run together in safe and exciting ways that are approachable for everyone, regardless of age, background or economic ability. Your support will ensure an investment in the local running community for years to come and lay the foundation for generations of runners through the TC Kids Run Free program.

You can donate during your registration process for a TCM event, or you can donate here.  You can also become a TCM Member which includes registration perks to reward your support of our nonprofit efforts.
