FAQs

How can I see if I'm registered?

Use the online registration confirmation tool to verify entry to the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon.

Can I receive a refund or defer my entry to another date?

Refunds are available within 48 hours of registration. This policy is valid until 5 days before the event. To request a refund, email info@tcmevents.org within 48 hours of when you submitted your registration. If accepted, you will be refunded your race entry fee; online transaction fees are non-refundable.

TCM does not have a deferral program.

Can I transfer my registration?

You may transfer your race entry prior to 11:59 p.m. on August 19, 2024, to another person or may switch to any distance (except the in-person 10 mile) that is not sold out. After August 20, 2024, your registration in non-transferable.

Transfers are conducted through your Race Roster account (helpful instructions here). Participant shirt sizing is subject to availability at the time of the switch.

NOTE:

  • Participants my not switch into the Medtronic TC 10 Mile because registration is done by a drawing process and would be unfair to those we turn away from the drawing.

  • There is no switching into races that are sold out, and TCM does not maintain a waiting list.

Can I pick up my friend’s packet or can someone else pick up my packet?

Yes. One runner may pick up another runner's packet.

Your representative will need a completed Packet Pick Up Authorization Form and their photo ID in order to pick up your packet. Your representative will also need to have the runner’s race number.

Note: only the representative's photo ID is required, not the participant’s.

Is there a time limit for finishing the event?

Roads will be closed and course services will be provided for all participants able to finish the marathon in six hours from the time the start line closes (8:15am, assuming an on-time start).

Finishing the marathon by 2:15 p.m. generally means maintaining an average pace of 13:44 per mile. The city permits issued to TCM do not permit the roads to remain closed beyond this limit. No course services including medical, fluid stations or traffic control are available beyond this pace, and participants who fall behind this pace will be asked to board the sweep bus which follows the course at the cut-off pace.

Should you choose not to board the sweep bus, by order of both Minneapolis and Saint Paul police, you must move to the sidewalk and obey all pedestrian traffic laws as the course reopens to traffic on a rolling basis. Runners who choose to continue and are not on the sidewalk will have their race number recorded and are subject to a ban from future TCM events.

While we strive our hardest to provide the full experience to all participants, those who choose to continue on the sidewalk and arrive to the finish after 2:15 p.m. may not receive full finishers’ amenities including medal, photos, and a listing in the official results.

Are strollers/dogs permitted?

Strollers are not permitted in the Marathon, 10 Mile and 10K.

Strollers are permitted in the 5K, Mile and Half Mile. Please indicate that you intend to run with a stroller on your registration form. You will sign a special waiver and be given a special "Stroller Bib" at packet pick up.

While we love our four-legged friends, we ask that they cheer you on from the sidelines and you reunite with them after exiting the Finish Controlled Zone. Thank you for your understanding.

What precautions is TCM taking to ensure my safety?

Safety has always been our organization’s top priority. We continue to monitor COVID-19 and all other public health and safety risks and will evaluate and update our event safety protocols so that they are properly calibrated on event weekend. Any event changes or updated protocols will be communicated in the Pre-Race email sent race week.

Whether you’re looking for a one-day experience or a year-round leadership opportunity, we offer a variety of meaningful roles suited to help you reach your personal and professional goals. From course marshals to fluid stations and finish line volunteers, we have something for everyone.

Check back this summer for available volunteer roles, or check our our volunteer page for year-round opportunities.

How can I further support TCM?

TCM’s ability to impact our community is due in part to the generosity of our runners and supporters. As a member supported 501(c)3 non-profit, we exist to provide platforms for people to run together in safe and exciting ways that are approachable for everyone, regardless of age, background or economic ability. Your support will ensure an investment in the local running community for years to come and lay the foundation for generations of runners through the TC Kids Run Free program.

You can donate during your registration process for a TCM event, or you can donate here.  You can also become a TCM Member which includes registration perks to reward your support of our nonprofit efforts.
