Registration & Pricing

Below is the registration pricing for the Get In Gear 5K. Tier 1 and Tier 2 will close as blocks are filled. Price tier increases for tiers 3-7 are date-based. All registration tiers, including virtual, are subject to availability. Register early to guarantee your spot and shirt size. 

Virtual registration is $39 for the 5K, 10K and Half Marathon. There are no price increases in the virtual event.

Parking and Transit

We strongly encourage carpooling, biking, or using public transportation as parking is limited in the area.

Be sure to allow plenty of time (45 minutes to an hour) between arrival and start time to walk to the packet pickup area, use toilets, check your gear, and prepare for the event.

Public Transit

FREE RIDES on Metro Transit buses and METRO lines for participants (& volunteers) from 5 a.m.-1 p.m. on race day, April 29th! Click here to download your pass.

Light Rail

50th Street & Minnehaha Light Rail Station via Blue Line is the closest stop.

  • It is an approximate 6-minute-walk (.3 miles) to the Race Festival

Vehicular Arrival

Drop Off / Pick Up Zone: On South Minnehaha Drive in the semi-circle across from Princess (Minnehaha) Depot using the South entrance.

For drops and picks ups:

  • Use the right lane and drive up as far as you can in the lane
  • Use the left lane only for passing and exiting the area
  • When exiting the area only make right hand turns on S Minnehaha Dr.

In the Runner Drop Off/Pick Up Zone please be quick.

During runner Pick Up please be courteous and try to time it so you both and your driver arrive around the same time.

Parking: There is no designated participant parking, but neighborhood parking is available in the area.  Please pay close attention to no parking signs, designated parking hours and meter details. Do not park along the racecourse and obey all parking rules in effect.

Course Time Limit

You may walk or run at any time during the race. Get In Gear Half Marathon participants must, however, be able to maintain a 30-minute-per-mile pace throughout the race due to course limits.  

Virtual Race Information

Participants in the virtual 5K, 10K and half marathon will be able to submit results April 1 – December 31, 2023.

Gear will be mailed to the shipping address provided at the time of registration on Friday May 12, 2023. 

Any changes to your address must be sent to info@tcmevents.org prior to Friday, March 24, 2023. Additional charges or delays in shipping may apply for incorrect addresses. 

Runners wishing to switch race distance or transfer registration to another person must complete the process by Wednesday, April 19, 2023. There are fees involved. Switching and transferring processes are conducted through your Race Roster account. (Helpful instructions here.) 

TC Kids Run Free Program

Runners aged 18 and under run at no cost at Twin Cities In Motion events through our TC Kids Run Free program. TCM Members and Donors support the program, the first installment of a larger initiative by nonprofit TCM to make events accessible to all. 

Kids can run in either the event’s “grown-up” race(s) or in 1 mile, half a mile and pre-K-dash races held in conjunction with the event.

Spectators

Friends and family are welcome to come to the race, bring a motivational sign, and watch and cheer on participants! As always, please be respectful of private property and do not enter the race course. Pedestrians are permitted to cross the course at intersections where race officials are present to direct foot traffic.

Age Group Awards

Age group awards will be available at the Info/Packet Pick Up tent after you finish for categories of men, women and non-binary athletes placing 1st, 2nd and 3rd in their age group. 

  • 5K awards will be ready on a rolling basis starting at 10:20 a.m. 
  • 10K awards will be ready on a rolling basis starting at 10:00 a.m.
  • Half marathon awards will be ready on a rolling basis starting at 10:45 a.m. 
  • Reports will be updated every 30 minutes so check back if your age group wasn't ready
  • If you don't collect your award on race day, participants can collect their awards at the TCM office (355 Randolph Ave., #200, St. Paul) from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 2 - Friday, May 26. Please email info@tcmevents.org in advance of pick up. 

Age groups include 14 & under, 15-18, 19-24, and continue in five-year increments until the 80+ age group. Athletes registered under “prefer not to disclose” for gender are not eligible for age group awards.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should I register?

Online registration closes when field limit is reached or at 6 p.m. on April 27, 2023, whichever comes first. Walk up registration will be offered at packet pick up April 27,28,29, 2023. Register early for the lowest price!  

How can I see if I'm registered?

Use the online registration confirmation tool to verify entry to the Get In Gear 2023. 

Can I switch to other distance or virtual?

Registrations may be switched between the 5K, 10K, Half Marathon  and virtual distances OR to another person one time. Transfer fees and restrictions apply. Registrations may only be transferred within the designated transfer period for each event. 

Registration transfers to another individual may only be transferred within the same event and distance as the original registration.

Can I receive a refund or defer my entry to next year?

Refunds are available within 48 hours of registration. This policy is valid until 5 days before the event. To request a refund, email info@tcmevents.org within 48 hours of when you submitted your registration. If accepted, you will be refunded your race entry fee; online transaction fees are non-refundable. TCM does not have a deferral program. 

Can I pick up my friend's packet?

Yes. Please have their race number and the correct spelling of the person's name available during pick up. Registrants will be notified of race numbers in the pre-race email following the end of online registration. Picking up others' packets is limited to FOUR at a time if others are waiting in line; thanks for understanding. 

Will gear check be available on race day?

Participants may place their gear and other items in the clear, plastic race bag provided at gear check, marked with a flag and located between Packet Pick up and the Finish Line. Please take note of the following details related to this free, race day service:​ 

  • Personal bags will not be accepted​ 

  • Clear, plastic bags will be available on race day 

  • Do NOT leave bags unattended on race day at any time​ 

  • Affix the gear check tag from race bib to the plastic bag using the tie provided at the gear check drop zone​ 

  • Tie bags securely shut before dropping at the gear check drop zone​ 

  • Do not check valuables, Twin Cities In Motion is not responsible for lost or stolen items​ 

  • Gear check opens at 7:30 a.m.​ 

  • Gear check closes at 11:45 a.m.​ 

  • We discourage runners and spectators from carrying non-transparent bags at the event at any time 

  

Do I have to run the entire time?

You may walk or run at any time during the race. Get in Gear 5K participants must, however, be able to maintain a 30-minute-per-mile pace throughout the race due to course limits.  

Can I run with a stroller?

Strollers are permitted in Get In Gear 5K distance only. For security and safety purposes, all persons with a stroller or baby jogger in Get In Gear 5K must be able to maintain the specified pace and agree to the guidelines listed in registration for participation with a stroller. To participate in the event with a stroller, you must display your assigned stroller race bib on the stroller.  

Can I run with my dog/pets?

We love four-legged friends, however, they are not permitted on course. Thanks for understanding. 

Can I volunteer for the event?

Yes! We're looking for people available to volunteer at the event on race day. Help us set up the event, serve participants on course, manage logistics, and more. Click here. 

What precautions is TCM taking to ensure my safety?

In advance of all events Twin Cities In Motion maintains close communication with public safety officials. Safety has always been our organization’s top priority, and we continuously monitor COVID-19 and all other public health and safety risks. Any event changes or updated protocols will be communicated in the Pre-Race Email sent race week.
