Events and Services Division

 

Organizes and plans all supplementary events to marathon week. The division is responsible for the following events: Health & Fitness Expo (seminars and packet pick up), VIP reception, and the Fall Association Meeting and Association Appreciation Banquet. The Corporate Team Challenge, Charter Club, Course Entertainment, Information Booth, VIP Tent, and 27th Mile committees work to enhance the runner and spectator experience. Also within Events & Services, the Pro Athlete Services committee enhances the stature of the event in the racing community by recruiting and coordinating hospitality for pro athletes to compete for National Championships and substantial prize purses.

Corporate Team Challenge Captain

Role Summary: CTC Committee members support TCM in the planning and execution of the Corporate Team Challenge program. Committee members lead the recruitment of new and established teams, and assist with set-up/tear-down and hosting CTC members at events; providing the highest quality customer service.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Off Season Event Responsibilities:
    • Help manage the Hot Dash and TC 1 mile event for corporate teams—prizes, socializing, ensuring everything goes smoothly.
  • Marathon Weekend Responsibilities:
    • Friday: finish line walk-through; set-up 5K/10K tent.
    • Saturday: manage 5K/10K tent—greet guests, socialize, promote Corporate Team Challenge, and clean up tent,.  Make sure marathon tent is set-up for Sunday.
    • Sunday: manage marathon tent—greet guests, manage volunteers, police door to ensure only CTC members join, clean-up throughout and also take down and clean afterwards.
  • Attend meetings throughout the year as needed

VIP Committee Member

Role Summary: VIP Committee members support TCM in the planning and execution of the Pre and Post-Race VIP areas, strategies and operations.  Lead the management of the VIP program Marathon Weekend with the goal of providing the highest quality customer service.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Welcome VIP participants upon entrance and confirm eligibility
  • Maintain a positive, empathetic and professional attitude toward participants at all times
  • Act as the point of reference for participants who need assistance or information, go above and beyond for any requests they might ask
  • Help oversee the set-up and take-down of the VIP areas on event day (tables, chairs, signage, etc.)
  • Ensure the VIP area is operating to the highest of standards

Race Series Co-Chair

Role Summary: Race Series Committee members support TCM in the planning and execution of the Saturday and Sunday Series areas, strategies and operations. Help lead the management of the Race Series Marathon Weekend with the goal of providing the highest quality customer service.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Marathon Weekend Responsibilities:
  • Friday: finish line walk-through; set-up 5K/10K tent.
  • Saturday: manage 5K/10K tent—greet guests, clean up tent periodically and at the end of the day, manage volunteers, help manage participant giveaways, meet and help caterer with set up, socialize and promote Rewards in Motion and Loony Challenge.  Make sure marathon tent is set for Sunday.

Expo Seminar Captain   

Role Summary: Secure and manage seminar speakers for the Expo maximizing timely content and sponsor relationships.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Create and coordinate seminar vision, content themes and sponsorship opportunities with TCM leadership and/or Events Division Director; identify subject matter topics and speakers related to strategic needs of TCM.
  • Recruit, manage and host seminar speakers for the Health & Fitness Expo while maximizing TCM brand, and sponsor & community partner relationships.
  • Onsite management of seminars during the Expo.
  • Manage the process of inviting speakers, outlining potential topics and desired outcomes, providing all logistics information, ensuring the TCM staff is able to promote across channels the speakers and topics, and post-event follow-up

Expo Seminar Capt Key Skill Sets:

  • Effective and formal communication skills: written and verbal.
  • Ability to motivate subject area experts and/or marketing department to volunteer their time and expertise.
  • Strategy breakdown to action (understanding how this impacts the strategic plans of TCM and specifically marathon weekend activities)
