The Board of Directors of Twin Cities In Motion is beginning its process for selecting new board members. Directors serve four-year terms (1/15 through 12/18) and are eligible for reappointment up to a maximum of two additional terms.

The Twin Cities In Motion (TCM) Board of Directors directs the affairs of TCM, particularly its strategic direction.  The Board provides governance to TCM, represents TCM in the community, and accepts ultimate legal authority and fiduciary responsibility for TCM and its mission.

TCM is seeking director candidates with significant professional, business, and leadership experience who ideally also have significant volunteer and/or nonprofit experience.  Directors serve four-year terms and are eligible for reappointment up to a maximum of two additional terms.

Qualifications and expectations include the following:

  • Extensive professional and leadership experience in business, government, philanthropy, or nonprofits.

  • Ability to contribute to strategic and major policy-making decisions.

  • Ability to attend regularly in person (1) Board meetings (typically nine per year and, in some years, annual full-day Board retreats), (2) applicable committee meetings (directors are expected to serve on at least one committee), and (3) periodic functions and events, including Marathon Weekend.

  • While not a traditional fund-raising Board, because of TCM’s non-profit status directors are required to make a nominal annual donation to TCM’s charitable fund, Friends of the Marathon.

  • Personal qualities of integrity, honesty, and ability to work collaboratively.

  • Passion for TCM, its mission, and its programs.

  • Experience as a participant or volunteer in TCM events.

  • A director may not be a paid employee or an immediate family member of a paid employee of TCM.

Service on the TCM Board is without compensation.
