Team USA Minnesota’s Heather Kampf has been selected as a member of the U.S. team that will compete in the IAAF World Relays in the Bahamas on May 24-25.  In addition, Travis Burkstrand will compete in Austin, Texas, at the American Track League meet on May 23 and Gabriele Grunewald won the 3000-meter race at the Ponce Grand Prix on May 17.

Kampf will be part of the women’s 4 x 1500 meter team that will race at the inaugural World Relays in Nassau.  More than 700 athletes are expected to compete during the two-day event with the women’s 4 x 1500 team scheduled to run on the afternoon of May 24.  Kampf has a best of 4:07.15 in the 1500m which she set at the 2014 Drake Relays.  Most recently, she posted 2:01.87 in the 800m at the USATF High Performance Meet at Occidental College in Los Angeles on May 15.

Burkstrand will travel to Austin to run the 1500 meters at the fourth stop on the American Track League’s inaugural circuit.  Burkstrand has a best of 3:43.82 in the 1500.  He most recently ran the 800m at the High Performance Meet with a time of 1:48.72.  The League has been developed by the Doyle Management Group.

In Puerto Rico at the Ponce Grand Prix on May 17, Grunewald won the 3000 meter race in a time of 8:53.38.  The event was part of the IAAF World Challenge Series.

Team USA Minnesota is based in the Twin Cities. Formed in 2001, the purpose of the training center is to improve the competitiveness of post-collegiate American distance running and to develop Olympians. Twin Cities In Motion is a major sponsor of the program.
