Team USA Minnesota’s Meghan Peyton and Ben Sathre will be among the competitors at the USA 10 Mile Championships, which will be held in conjunction with the Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run in Washington, D.C., on April 6.
The elite women’s field will have an advance start at 7:20 a.m. and the men’s field and all other participants begin at 7:30 a.m. in waves. The race starts and finishes on the Washington Monument Grounds.
Peyton is the 2013 USA 20K National Champion and most recently was eighth at the USA 15K Championships in Jacksonville on March 15 with a time of 50:44, a personal best. In the 10 Mile distance, she has posted 55:09. Sathre has run 45:12 in the 15K distance.
Jon Peterson will open his outdoor track season at the Stanford Invitational, which will be held on the campus of Stanford University on April 4. Peterson will compete in the 5000 meters and has a best in the distance of 13:41.93.
Gabriele Grunewald finished ninth at the Carlsbad 5000 in California on March 30 with a time of 16:08. Next up for Grunewald will be the USA 1 Mile Road Championships that will be held in Des Moines on April 22.
Team USA Minnesota is based in the Twin Cities. Formed in 2001, the purpose of the training center is to improve the competitiveness of post-collegiate American distance running and to develop Olympians. Twin Cities In Motion is a silver sponsor of the program.
