Massage Enhances Your Training

Week 10

Adding massage as a regular part of your training schedule will optimize your performance. All serious runners should consider incorporating massage therapy into their training regimen.

Massage can:

  • Speed recovery

  • Help prevent injuries

  • Facilitate injury healing

  • Reduce down time

  • Relieve pain

  • Flush out lactic acid

  • Maintain overworked muscle groups

  • Correct imbalances

  • Improve circulation

  • Increase mobility and range of motion

  • Break down scar tissue

  • Provide a psychological boost

  • Decrease muscle tension

  • Give you a competitive edge

When should you get a massage?

  • Regularly – it’s preventive maintenance for your body

  • Between hard workouts – especially if you are doing a lot of speed work

  • When you are injured – see a qualified massage therapist with training and experience in sports massage

  • Before a race – three to ten days prior if you don't get massage regularly, the day before if you do

  • Immediately after a race  - Stop at the massage tent at the finish line and let the CenterPoint therapists help speed your recovery and reduce soreness.
