Helping Boston Heal, One Mile at a Time

posted on Tue, Apr 23 2013 10:02 am by TCM Staff

Like all of you, we at Twin Cities In Motion have paused countless times in recent days to think about Boston, with our thoughts and condolences for the Boston victims always top of mind. Our shock and disbelief quickly progressed to an overwhelming desire to help heal our running community.

Our resolve is to keep running. Strong. Boston Strong! And, to aid the Boston community with a sizeable financial donation.

We have chosen to dedicate our next TCM event – the Medtronic TC 1 Mile– to the Boston community and contribute our financial support as well. TCM will donate 10% of each Medtronic TC 1 Mile registration fee to the victims of the Boston Marathon attacks.  In addition, Twin Cities In Motion will match those contributions in an effort to raise $10,000 total.

Please join us in a meaningful mile on Thursday evening, May 9th, down the Nicollet Mall in Minneapolis. We also invite all runners, volunteers and spectators to honor the Boston Marathon by wearing yellow and blue, the signature colors of the Boston Marathon.  We'll be distributing ribbons in Medtronic TC 1 Mile runner packets as well as to spectators at the "Cheers Zones" along Nicollet Mall and in the bleachers at the finish line so everyone can show support.

Register to run – and please note online registration closes May 3.

Following our May event, we will present our donation, in the name of all Medtronic TC 1 Mile runners, to the Boston community.

Runners may also utilize upcoming 2013 Twin Cities In Motion events to fundraise for Boston Marathon bombing victims. Visit our Crowdrise page for more details on how you can raise funds through upcoming TCM events or make a one-time donation. To register for any TCM event go to
